Cluster pendant made up of 3 porcelain droplets. Supplied with brushed chrome fittings with twisted string cord. The droplets are hand cast in porcelain and carefully finished to give a smooth surface. There is natural variation in the clay which when lit gives an unusual organic glow and describes the clay texture from which the lights are made. The daylight reflects off the shiny glaze which each light is dipped in, giving subtle interest and the lights a luscious luxurious feel. Please note that the glaze detail and appearance of each light when lit may vary. DROP lights are handmade using slip casting process, and as such variations are to be expected and indeed enjoyed as these differences are what makes each piece unique and special.
Amy’s background in manufacturing ceramics for architecture helped refine her skill and understanding of clay and how ceramics behave. But more recently her Masters in Historic Environment Conservation and subsequent Winston Churchill Fellowship has been informing Flux Surface. For her Fellowship Amy travelled to the USA for 8 weeks to study applications of ceramics in architecture both historically as well as through innovation in the material today.
