This side table, the second instalment in the Retrospect series of furniture is inspired by Scandinavian mid-century design. It pays particular homage to atomic age design of the 1960s and 1970s.
A playful piece with a dynamic aesthetic, its design with a main “body” supported by four curved legs aims to give the impression that the piece has the ability to move or may just have been moving before being viewed.
Alan Flannery is a Bristol based furniture designer and maker. After studying for four years at the GMIT Letterfrack in Connemara he relocated to London to further his experience as a maker working on high end residential and corporate projects. He creates his own style of furniture which can be organic or fluid in appearance drawing inspiration from the dramatic landscapes and seascapes of his native Ireland or from the Gloucestershire countryside. His work can also be simplistic and modernist in appearance taking stylistic cues from the furniture and architecture of the 20th century in which he has a great interest.
